A Study corresponds to an experiment whose design reflects a specific biological research question. It is part of an Investigation into a particular process, phenomenon or thing. A Study will have Assays that are "measurement experiments", a standardized measurement or diagnostic experiment using a specific protocol, applied to material from a Study.

An Experimental Assay is a standardized measurement or diagnostic experiment using a specific protocol, applied to material from a study. Examples include RNA sequencing, proteomics, metabolomics, and many others.
There are many Experimental Assay Types to choose from, as well as many Technology Type. Moreover, one can create new types in both cases.
Finally, note that one may also associate this assay with one or more organisms, add samples, ...
